The department began its activity in 1999 as a structural subdivision of additional education of the Moscow Architectural Institute (State Academy).

The department offers several training programs within the framework of the Architectural Environment Design study direction, differing in complexity, duration and design objects (interior and exterior) from two months to two years.

The School of Design DETAILS exists since 2000. Since 2002, the school has been a full member of the International Association of Interior Designers (IIDA).
